County Kayak & Canoe Course

Friday 19 June 2009 - Sunday 21 June 2009  Following on the success of last year’s Kayak & Canoe weekend, the County Paddlesports Team are offering Scouts, Explorer Scouts, Network members and Leaders within the County a chance to participate in a residential Kayaking & Canadian Canoeing experience. The weekend will take place on 19th – 21st June, at Longridge Scout Boating centre near Marlow, on the River Thames. Participants will spend two fun-filled days on the water in both Kayaks & Canadian Canoes working to gain the Paddle Power awards. The residential weekend will be preceded by an evening pool session included in the cost. The cost for the pool session and weekend including catering, camp fees and all instruction will be £60. Participants will need to supply their own tents. Non-participating leaders will be charged £20 (includes catering and camping fees) and will be expected to help run the evening activities. Applicants must be 10½ or over by the 19th June, be members of the Scout Association, be able to swim 50 metres in light clothing and stay afloat for 5 minutes.
